Take action to
make an impact

Time to make saving democracy our entire personality.

First of all, thank you for taking the first step to doing the work! Democracy is not a spectator sport and the only way we’ll elect Kamala Harris and other democrats to create the life we want for our communities and our families’ futures is by showing up. We’re big fans of doing what you can, when you can, but also of stepping outside of your comfort zone. So grab a friend or five and start somewhere.

Highest Priority

  • Canvassing AKA Doors

This may not be everybody’s cup of tea but hear us out. With high intimidation factor comes the greatest impact factor! Grab the girls, sign up for a shift, and get those steps in.

  • Relational Organizing

This is just a fancy term for: reach out to the people you now to make sure they’re voting (for candidates that support your values). Make a commitment to adopt 20 voters and text, call, or DM them now through November.

  • Help a Local Campaign

Electing Democrats up and down the ticket helps all races, and local candidates are most in need of help! Often times they have something for everyone, from providing baked goods for volunteers or delivering yard signs.

More ways to take action:

Open Canvassing

Dare we say this is our favorite? If the structure and time/location restraints of door knocking within a campaign isn’t your thing, take it to the streets! Grab some candidate literature from a local Dem office and a few friends, and head out to a farmer’s market or festival to talk to voters. Locations should be at your discretion but we recommend adopting an ask for forgiveness, not permission mentality :). No lit? No problem. “Are you all set to vote?” at daycare pickup, park playdates, Target checkout—sky’s the limit. Insufferable yet…approachable.

Write Letters

Introverts, unite! Writing handwritten letters to voters is a great way to help election turnout. You can use a program like Vote Forward that will provide a list of contacts and pointers on what to write, or write on your own and distribute to your neighbors. (Just be aware that placing anything in someone’s mailbox is illegal! Opt for the door handle or under the mat.)

Postcards

Postcards are a fan favorite for a reason! They’re fun, easy, and a great onramp to activism. There are several organizations that have programs you can sign up through but many are paused at the moment due to high demand. Check out options here or dust off that Holiday card list and send personalized postcards to your people! Bonus points for your swing state friends.

Put up a Yard Sign

This is a great and easy way to show your support for candidates and help increase name recognition for some of the local candidates. If you’re feeling spicy, may we recommend sipping your coffee out on the front porch in front of said yard signs so you can ask your neighbors if they’re registered to vote on their morning walks?

Donate to a Campaign

If you’re in a position to give a monetary contribution, it’s one of the best ways you can help campaigns put their dollars towards the most proven way to reach voters. Give directly to Kamala’s campaign or candidates in your area. We also love giving through Oath, who uses data to give to the highest impact races, and you can customize by state, policy issue, etc. (Plus Oath never sells or shares your email or contact info.)

Host a House Party

No, not the kind with red solo cups (or maybe it is?). Grab some goods from Trader Joe’s and invite a handful of friends over to talk about the upcoming election. Invite a local candidate to give their pitch or just use the time to talk about what’s on everyone’s mind and be a resource. (Bonus points: keep the group chat going after the party to share critical campaign updates, news, and of course—memes.)
